Hats, Hats, Hats

This is an adaptation of a pattern for the basic roll brim hat in the book Teen Knitting Club: Chill Out and Knit by Jennifer Wenger.  I used 1 skein of Nashua Handknits Creative Focus Chunky on size 13 needles.  A very quick knit!  I had enough left on the skein to make the squiggles to decorate the top of the hat.  I also did K1P1 ribbing on the bottom of that hat to make it fit a little better.
This hat was knit for my youngest daughter.  She loves it!  It is from the book The Yarn Girls Guide to Knits for Older Kids by Julie Carles and Jordanna Jacobs.  The yarn is Karabella Aurora Bulky on size 9 needles.  I added a pom pom at my daughter's request.  It took a skein of each.   I would recommend converting this pattern to working in the round since I don't like seaming at the end.
This is one I especially like since it was a quick knit and is a very comfortable hat. I will definitely be making more of these, probably in other yarns.  I made this one to go with a pair of Fetching handwarmers in the same yarn.  I am also working on a cable scarf in the same yarn.  I will post details of that soon.
Pattern:  Snowball Hat by Katie Himmelburg
Interweave Knits Fall 2007
Yarn: RYC Aran in Bud
2 strands held together
Needles:  Size 9 and 11 DPNs
I lengthened the hat, since I thought the hole would be too big if I followed the instructions as written.  I kept decreasing the crown until I had 8 stitches left, and then closed up the top.
